Above, Police demonstrated the gadgets on a police car and police motorcycle at the village school fete in 1975 and got a reward – lollipops. And another of the day’s attractions, clown Ken Jordan, was there to hand them out.
The village set up a tree planting fund in 1965 to beautify its surroundings and girls from the 1st Yarnton Brownies and Guides were among the first to wield the spade. They are seen planting four flowering trees on previously bare grass verges. The parish council was behind the scheme to plant more trees and improve the look of the village.
The village school staged a musical called Panji and the Buffalo in 1991 and among the cast were, left to right, Claire Gaskins, seven, Matthew Green, seven, and Claire Sutton, eight.
