I WANTED to respond to your story about the county council’s consultation on respite breaks for adults with learning disabilities (Review of respite breaks for disabled as care cuts loom, December 13).
The consultation is about how we can make best use of the funding that is available for these respite breaks. There are no proposals currently to reduce funding in this area, despite the very challenging financial environment that councils find themselves in. I want to put on record the appreciation I have for the excellent work that is done by carers in Oxfordshire.
Mrs JUDITH HEATHCOAT (Cllr)
Cabinet member for adult social care
