I AM writing to say thank you to all Santander staff and customers throughout Oxfordshire who have helped raise a huge amount of money for CLIC Sargent in 2013.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people and is Santander’s charity of the year for 2013. The bank’s current fundraising total stands at £1.3m; smashing the original target of £800,000.

Bank staff and local communities have shown fantastic commitment in raising money this year, which will go towards providing vital support to children and young people with cancer living in Oxfordshire.

Over the course of 2013, Santander staff have carried out a wide range of fundraising activities for CLIC Sargent, including treks to Mount Everest and Machu Picchu, two Total Wipeout events and the nationwide Santander Flame Relay, as well as branch counter campaigns.

The money raised will fund the charity’s Home from Home service for an entire year. CLIC Sargent has eight Homes from Home close to seven principal treatment centres where families can stay for free during their child’s cancer treatment – saving money on travel and accommodation costs.

One such Home from Home, CLIC Court situated in Oxford, houses numerous families from around the surrounding area every year.

On behalf of everyone at CLIC Sargent and the children and young people it supports, I would like to say thank you to Santander for the money they have raised.
