SUPERMARKET Sainsbury’s has moved to quash rumours that it plans to close its new Bicester car park and part of the store over a “wobble”.
The store, which partnered with Cherwell District Council in the £70m town centre redevelopment, confirmed neither the car park or mezzanine would close.
It said the “wobble” felt in store or in the car-park was “totally in line” with what is expected of the structure.
The move came after messages were posted on social networking sites.
A spokesman for Sainsbury’s said: “This is pure rumour. I can confirm that the car park and mezzanine are definitely not closing.
“Any wobble felt is totally in line with what you would expect from a structure of this size.
“The building is totally safe. Any help with putting this rumour to bed would be much appreciated.”
The development opened in July, and includes a Sainsbury’s supermarket, Vue Cinema, shops and restaurants. It also has a two-deck 527-space car park.
