FLATS could soon be built on the site of a former filling station in Oxford’s Abingdon Road.
Sterling Developments has submitted a planning application to build nine flats on the site next to the former Fox and Hounds pub, which is being converted into a Tesco Express store.
The site of the former filling station was sold by Tesco, which has already started building the supermarket on the corner of Weirs Lane.
The site would become three one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats and three three-bedroom flats.
In the application, Sterling Developments said: “There is an acknowledged shortfall in the supply of housing.
“This site offers the real potential to provide nine dwellings that will in a small way go towards addressing this issue.”
A decision will be made by city councillors at a date to be fixed.
