A 43-year-old woman has been charged after a train hit a car on the Sandy Lane rail crossing in Yarnton.

Heather Bister, of Austin Drive, Banbury, appeared at Banbury Magistrates’ Court today.

British Transport Police confirmed the woman had been charged in the early hours with endangering safety on the railways without intent.

The charge relates to an incident on the crossing in Yarnton on Tuesday, November 12, at about 4.40pm.

The case has now been adjourned to Oxford Crown Court on December 6.

Police said Bister was released on conditional bail and told not to drive, not to enter any rail infrastructure, and to be accompanied by an adult when leaving her home address.
