MAJOR projects on two of Oxford’s estates could be among the recipients for grant cash from the county council next week.

Officers at the council have recommended Wood Farm Youth Centre is given £900 for IT equipment and a games console and that Blackbird Leys Adventure Playground gets £940.

In their application, a spokesman for the youth centre said: “We want to improve and update our IT equipment, games console and other equipment.

“At a youth work session the young people attending our girls group discussed, with two staff members, how the equipment and resources of the youth centre could be improved and updated. A list of the equipment needed was drawn up and this list forms the basis for this application.”

The grants are part of the council’s chill-out fund, which is recommended to pay out £22,840 this month.

Cabinet member for the voluntary sector Hilary Hibbert-Biles will meet officers on Wednesday to make her decision at 10am at County Hall.
