SO Oxford City Council, or is it just Councillor Bob Price, who does not think the rail link will benefit Oxford. With a new proposed railway station a new link to London via part of this line it must be beneficial to Oxford and the whole area, not just Bicester as Councillor Price suggests.

This line will not only be of benefit to passengers but to freight also.

With the advent of a new station, would it not be too much to hope that a new bus station could be incorporated on or near site. The present one at Gloucester Green is a disgrace to the city, what must all visitors think when they arrive? Have any of the councillors ever waited for a bus, be it London, long distance or local when the weather is inclement. I suggest they take a look at other cities and towns, some of which are not too far away and have decent bus stations and close railway links.

To return to the East/West link, the present one, X5 run by Stagecoach from its Bedford office, has only one stop in Oxford. Can someone tell me why? Or can I guess, it’s Oxford council again. There are six stops in Bicester, three in Milton Keynes, five in Bedford, four in St Neots and five in Cambridge, including Madingley Road park and ride. Are we the poor relations again?

With hundreds of houses to be built north of Oxford in the very near future, the Barton development, the northern gateway site at Peartree, Begbroke Science Park, where will all the traffic go? The A34, A40, A44,and surrounding roads are gridlocked now at the best of times.

So come on council think again. Let’s get something right for a change.
