WORKMEN at Osney Weir in West Oxford were bridging the gap yesterday.
As part of the renovations at the lock and weir, the Environment Agency has installed a temporary bridge.
This will allow walkers to stroll down the Thames Path while work is carried out over the winter.
The work involves refurbishing weir A and replacing the guard piles on both weirs A and B. It is expected to be finished by the end of January.
The renovations are part of the Environment Agency’s investment of £3m on its Thames infrastructure over the coming months.
As well as the weir being replaced, workmen are constructing a hydro which would generate 165,500kwh of electricity a year, equivalent to that needed to power more than 50 houses.
This is expected to be in operation in February.
