Ginny Stroud left Temple Cowley School at 15, but later trained as a secretary and took an Open University degree.
Her book Circles: Hidden Lives (Troubador, £9.99) tells the story of her remarkable grandmother, Gertrude Annie Stroud, born in 1905, who lived in Salegate Lane through two world wars, the growth of the Cowley car factory, the Depression and the improved living conditions of the late 20th century.
The author’s website www.ginnystroud.com has old photos of her family and friends, and of life in Cowley over the years until her grandmother’s death in 1993.
