A 25-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist was on the wrong side of the road when he collided head-on with a car, an inquest heard.

Luke Taylor, of Rowlands Close, Wallingford, died after the crash on the A4074 between the A4130 Mongewell roundabout at Crowmarsh Gifford and Church Lane at about 5.40am on February 28.

The inquest at Oxfordshire Coroners’ Court yesterday heard that the landscape gardener, who was travelling towards Reading to get to work in Sunningdale, Berkshire, moved into the Wallingford-bound lane as he negotiated a left-hand turn.

The toxicology report revealed that cannabis was found in his blood, but in a statement read to the court, forensic toxicologist Colin Seneviratne said: “The presence of this in the blood does not necessarily mean the person is impaired.”

Motorist Lukasz Tyburski was driving colleagues to work at Rowse Honey in Wallingford when the collision happened.

He told the court he was travelling about 50mph on the 60mph limit road in his Audi A4 and said: “I saw a single light on my side, so I shouted in Polish ‘what is he doing?’. I swerved to the left and Luke swerved to his left.”

A verdict of accident was recorded.
