THREE-year-old Emma Lee proudly showed off her paper mouse mask made at an animal-themed arts and crafts session recently.

The free event, for children under five, was held at the Pitt Rivers Museum.

Stories about animals were told and visitors made pawprint patterns as well as masks.

Emma’s mother Christine Lee, 30, from Headington said: “She has been asking to go again ever since we went.

“They had this safari where they went into the museum and she enjoyed looking at all the animals.”

Emma said: “The alligator was my favourite.”

Last Thursday’s event was organised by Simone Dogherty who manages the museum’s family sessions.

The 25-year-old from East Oxford said: “It was a nice day and we did two events.

“We have been doing family activities at the museum for a long time, but sessions for under-fives is something we started recently.”

The next sessions for under-fives, My Little Drum, take place on November 14 between 10.30am-12.30pm and 2-4pm and will give children the chance to make drums and play some from the museum.
