THE Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is appealing for volunteers to help with one of Oxford’s best-loved Christmas concerts. The charity’s candle-lit Spirit of Christmas concert will take place at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, December 3, an evening of festive poems and readings by special guests and performances by Songs of Praise finalists, and the Dragon School choir. Volunteers are needed to prepare the cathedral before the event and to help with a reception for guests and gold ticket holders following the concert. Proceeds from the Spirit of Christmas concert back the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s work funding groundbreaking research into treatments for muscle-wasting conditions and supporting the 70,000 people in the UK who are affected – 600 of them in Oxfordshire. Zoe Williams, special events co-ordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, said: “We would really appreciate some extra help on the night, and in exchange our volunteers will get to join in, have fun and be part of a great evening.”
