OXFORD’S Story Museum has unveiled a new comic-book themed mural across its facade explaining its current building project.

Designed by Oxford artist and writer Neil Cameron, it depicts story characters, plans for the site and even the builders.

The museum is building a “cathedral of stories” at its home in Pembroke Street and will also get a new shop and café, as well as a new studio for artists in residence.

Natalie Balchin, a museum intern, said: “We have a lot of construction going on and this is our way of letting everyone know what is going on.

“It shows our future plans that children in Oxfordshire will be able to enjoy.”

Mr Cameron was the artist for graphic novel series Mo-Bot High. He said the Story Museum was a brilliant project. After it received an anonymous donation in 2009, the museum bought the site of its home in three buildings on Pembroke Street.

It was granted planning permission in 2012 and needs £8 million of donations to complete the project. It should reopen early next year.
