A HIGH Court judge will decide today whether a judicial review can be held into a controversial building in Jericho.

Oxford City Council gave planning permission to the £75m Blavatnik School of Government in Walton Street earlier this year.

But businessman David Freud, whose bar is next to the Oxford University building, has launched a judicial review bid against the scheme.

Today, Mr Justice Ousley will decide at the Royal Courts of Justice in London whether his case can go ahead.

Mr Freud claims there were conflicts of interest by city councillors, although a High Court judge has already thrown out his case in chambers.

City councillor Colin Cook, the executive board member for city development who also works for the university’s Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, is one of the councillors Mr Freud names.

Mr Cook said last night: “It seems pretty clear to me from the initial decision that the case has no merit.”
