FORGET The Great British Bake Off. On Sunday, 30 amateur cooks from an Abingdon estate are going head-to-head in the first Peachcroft Quiche-Off.
They will be vying for the approval of Abingdon mayor Sam Bowring.
The cook-off has been organised by Paul Griffiths and Dave Crossley for members of the Peachcroft Social Club.
Mr Griffiths: “I’ve never even baked a quiche before but I’m a keen chef and I’m optimistic there’s only going to be one winner.
“There are so many different types, it will be interesting.
“I’m doing salmon and broccoli.”
Bakers will fill their flans on the Sunday morning and take them to the club.
Money raised from the £5 entry fees will go to the mayor’s chosen charity for this year, the Scouts and Guides and Abingdon Community Hospital League of Friends.
