A PENSIONER has admitted downloading and sharing indecent images of children online.
Keith Godfrey, of St Nicholas Road, Littlemore, appeared at Oxford Crown Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to 15 counts.
The 71-year-old, who had no previous convictions, confessed to five counts of making, and nine counts of distributing, indecent images of children. He also admitted one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between December 18, 2006, and January 16, 2008.
In total, Godfrey, who will now have to sign the sex offenders’ register, downloaded more than 1,500 indecent images of children.
Jonathan Coode, defending, asked for a five-week adjournment for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.
Judge Gordon Risius said he would grant the request for a report to consider a range of sentencing options.
But he told the defendant that “immediate custody” had not been ruled out.
Godfrey was granted bail on the condition that he does not contact anyone under 18. He is due to be sentenced on November 14.
