BICESTER residents were given a glimpse of the past at a new exhibition.
A history and archaeology exhibition was held at the Methodist Church Hall, in Sheep Street, last week.
Items on show included a Roman tombstone, artefacts excavated in a recent archaeological dig at the former Bicester Priory Church, in Priory Lane, and a rare example of a Roman writing tablet found in Langford village.
The event also marked the launch of The Bicester Museum & Heritage Trust Association, set up to look at creating a permanent museum in the town.
One organiser Meg Latham said about 500 people came along to the exhibition and some were surprised to learn Bicester had been a Roman fort.
She said: βIt went brilliantly. People were impressed.β
