PENSIONERS enjoyed a night out with a smile, thanks to George Bernard Shaw and pupils at John Mason School, Abingdon.
A specially invited audience of senior citizens saw a preview of Shaw’s comedy, Androcles and the Lion, in 1984.
The young cast, pictured here at the dress rehearsal, also gave three other performances of the play, to families and friends.
However, the first public showing of any school production was traditionally a treat for members of local pensioners’ clubs and residents of the John Masefield Cheshire Home at Burcot.
Drama teacher and producer Sarah McCloughry said: “The cast look forward to this preview just as much as the audience, and our guests always provide a warm and enthusiastic response.”
