Picture 1 Wellwishers who provided cash for a rehabilitation unit and new surgeries at Watlington Cottage Hospital had a chance to see what their money had bought. The hospital held an open afternoon in 1983 for people to see the £50,000 conversion of a once-derelict barn. Nursing Officer Margaret Wallington is pictured showing Charles Farrell, chairman of the hospital’s League of Friends, round the rehabilitation unit.
Picture 2 There was a touch of the circus when pupils at Icknield School performed Godspell, the rock musical, in 1990. Director Richard Milburn said: “Two pupils have learned to unicycle and others have become quite competent jugglers and tumblers.” Pictured left to right are Rebecca Raby, 16, Shaun Kelly, 15, Craig Williams, 16, and Melanie Warde, 13.
Picture 3 Amelia Carr and her brother Charles, of Cuxham, dressed as Red Indians in the fancy dress competition for the town’s street fair in 1983. Their efforts paid off – they won first prize.
