MAY I, through your column, register my deep concerns at the continuing brutal persecution of Christians in certain parts of the world and the increasing marginalisation of Christians in our own country.

Only two weeks ago, in Peshawar, Pakistan, 80 worshippers were killed by suicide bombers simply because they were Christian.

Over 160,000 Christians last year were murdered because of their faith and over 200 million worldwide suffer persecution simply because they are Christian.

Surely this is very wrong. Quite rightly we allow freedom of religion here in the UK, is it not about time that all foreign UK aid will only be given if the freedom of religion is respected and protected?
