FILM director Richard Curtis helped an Oxford cancer charity raise more than £6,000 with an exclusive screening of his new film.
Mr Curtis introduced About Time at the Phoenix Picture House in Walton Street, Oxford, last week to aid Maggie’s Oxford, a charity at Headington’s Churchill Hospital that supports cancer sufferers.
The film was shown nearly a week before its UK release date of September 4.
Anna Mason, from Maggie’s, said: “It was great fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy the film which was fantastic. We are so grateful to Richard and everyone involved in making it such a special evening and to everyone who donated money.”
Maggie’s Oxford is building a new permanent £3m centre at the Churchill Hospital that will help about 100 people a day when it opens next spring.
It will replace a temporary building.
