IT symbolises the problem of a relationship between two people.
But the Henry Moore sculpture which was unveiled at the Ashmolean Museum yesterday is part of an exhibition showcasing the work of two great artists with a close relationship.
The Three Piece Reclining Figure No. 2: Bridge Prop, created in 1963, is on loan from Leeds Museums and Galleries and will be at the museum in Beaumont Street, Oxford, for two years.
Francis Bacon Henry Moore: Flesh and Bone will feature a large collection of paintings by Bacon and sculptures and drawings by Moore from Thursday, September 12 to Sunday, January 19.
Richard Calvocoressi, director of The Henry Moore Foundation and co-curator of the Ashmolean exhibition, said: “Fifty years after their first joint exhibition at Marlborough Fine Art, Francis Bacon Henry Moore: Flesh and Bone places the work of these two great artists in close relation once again.”
Tickets are £8 or £6 for concessions. Under 18s are free.
