THE owners of a Kidlington hair salon were left shocked after being burgled and hit with a bill for £1,750 in damage.

Claire Ring and Norman Davies, who own Central Hair and Barbers in Oxford Road, realised the shop had been broken into after their mobile phones – linked to the alarm system in the premises – sounded at 5am on Friday.

Mr Davies, of The Moors, went there to find that the glass in the front door had been removed.

The 63-year-old said ten GHD stylers at a total cost of £1,500 were stolen and that damage to the front door was about £250. But he said the shop is covered by insurance.

Mr Davies, who has co-owned the shop for the last eight years, said: “I was annoyed as you work so hard to make a living and someone tries to take it away.”

Co-owner Claire Ring, 39, said: “The shop looked in a real mess.

“We have seven members of staff and five were working on Friday and when they arrived they were cross that someone would come and do that.”

Mrs Ring said a GHD styler was stolen 18 months ago.

Despite the break-in, the shop opened at 8.30am as usual.

Thames Valley Police ask anyone who saw anything to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
