Parents have been urged to vaccinate their children against measles ahead of the new school year.

There were six reported cases in Oxfordshire last year and one so far this year.

But there has been a recent rise in the number of cases nationally which has prompted an awareness campaign and catch-up programme to have youngsters vaccinated.

Posters highlighting the issue are to be put up in GP surgeries, leisure centres, libraries and children’s centres and there will be advertising on buses.
