EACH year a vehicle owner will receive a reminder, from Swansea, to renew their vehicle licence for six or 12 months.
It states very clearly at the top of the V11 form renewal reminder to get a tax disc, and if one should decide to pay online the address is www.gov.uk/taxdisc. Whether one calls it, as above, or by another name (vehicle excise duty) it is still a disc that has to be valid and placed in the front windscreen of vehicles by law. It so happens that mine is due for renewal, as well as insurance and MOT, and this is just to put the vehicle on the road.
With all the money spent on the above, I could have bought a new bicycle with lights, front and back, with nothing more to pay this year or next. I could then cycle to the city centre and park where I wished, within reason, and in bad weather I could revert to using my free bus pass. At the end of the day, it’s a matter of choice how people spend their money to use our busy roads.
