FEW home purchases in Oxfordshire will avoid stamp duty by 2018, according to a new report.

The tax is applied to all homes sold for more than £125,000.

The Taxpayers’ Alliance said its research showed 99 per cent of sales in South Oxfordshire will pay the duty in five years’ time, compared with 96 per cent now.

In Oxford, it predicts a rise from 96 per cent to 98 per cent, in West Oxfordshire from 94 to 97 per cent, from 91 per cent to 97 per cent in Cherwell, and from 94 per cent to 98 per cent in Vale of White Horse.
