Sir – John Tanner should get his head out of the clouds and face reality; Oxford would be far ‘Cleaner and Greener’ if the buses were cleaned up and reduced in number.
His ‘pie in the sky’ electric car proposals are a diversion away from the immediate problems all of us are having to tolerate.
His priority should be attending to the multitude of council and private housing tenancies which have no double glazing or proper insulation.
Private landlords in particular are a major problem when it comes to making their properties ‘Cleaner and Greener’. The time has come to bring them into line with current environment necessities which other European countries take for granted.
