OXFORD: The Chester Arms in Chester Street is set to reopen but two houses will be built on part of its car park and garden.
Woodchester Estates Limited was granted planning permission for the scheme at a west area planning committee meeting on Tuesday.
The plan will see the pub’s kitchen extension knocked down and two three-bedroom houses built, including more than about 50 per cent of the pub garden.
A planning application from Woodchester to convert the pub into a home was refused last year by the city council.
