Council chiefs will meet rail bosses to discuss plans for a £500m rail link between Oxford and Bedford.
The East-West rail link project aims to reinstate the former railway line linking Oxford, Milton Keynes and Bedford.
Today, Oxfordshire County Council deputy leader Rodney Rose will meet other councillors, along with representatives of Network Rail and the Department for Transport, to receive an update on the project.
The target opening date for the line is 2017, and developers hope to eventually extend the line to Cambridge.
