OLYMPIC silver medallist Keri-anne Payne has taken the plunge at Blenheim Palace lake ahead of a relay challenge for Sport Relief.
The swimmer, from Edinburgh, will be joined by comedian David Walliams and Beijing medallist Cassie Patten in leading relay teams for the BritIsh Gas’ SwimBritain challenge at the palace in Woodstock on Sunday, September 1.
After the swim on Tuesday she said: “The water was warmer than I was expecting and it was not a bad trial run. Swimming is something I absolutely love doing and the challenge is all about getting more people fired up about it.”
The open water event, which is also supported by homelessness charity Shelter, will see teams of four complete a relay swim of 1,000m.
Blenheim Palace is the only location in the country hosting an open water challenge.
