FAMILIES were taught ancient fire-lighting techniques in a bid to spark their interest in the great outdoors.
Manse Ahmad, 46, from Eaton near Cumnor, who runs a firm called Wilderness Pioneers to introduce people to outdoor life and survival skills, taught about 50 people during the RSPB Big Wild Sleepout in Wytham Woods on Sunday.
He held lessons in how to light fires using both modern and ancient techniques, including using a bow drill.
Mr Ahmad said: “It was very good.
“The youngest was about seven, going all the way up to the eldest who I think was in their late 60s or early 70s, and they loved it.”
