Children who skip meals, consume fizzy drinks and watch too much television risk serious health problems in later life, says Oxford University.
About one in three children and young people are overweight, risking problems including diabetes and heart disease.
Research bringing together a range of statistics found about two in five 13-year-olds drink a soft drink daily, while 25 per cent of two to 15-year-olds spend at least six hours every weekend day inactive.
