I am writing concerning Kidlington High Street.
Yesterday I went to the monthly meeting at the library held by the police called ‘Have Your Say’. I again asked about the policing in the High Street.
The PC told me that they have been instructed ‘not to patrol’ until Cherwell have installed the rising bollards across the road from the Co-op to Barclays Bank.
I asked when was the last time they did a patrol? He said: “About two months ago.”
I was not happy with this response, so I rang Cherwell District Council. I was informed that when they have the funds and the permission from Oxfordshire Highways they will arrange for the bollards to be installed. The officer also said it would not be done for at least another three months.
I have already been informed by the Highways Department that as far as they are concerned, everything is in place. It is Cherwell who are dragging their feet.
If they can’t find the money why can’t they employ a traffic warden for six hours a day, six days a week? This would cost a fraction of the thousands on bollards.
