The top juniors at Frilford Heath fell just short of winning the Skinner Cup as they were pipped by Wentworth.
It was the Oxfordshire club’s turn to host the triangular junior tournament, which also includes Woburn.
Following a mini-Ryder Cup format, teams of six compete in foursomes during the morning round and singles during the afternoon.
Wentworth, who will host next year’s event, eventually emerged on top with 11 points, despite a determined fightback in the singles form the host club.
Frilford finished one point behind, while Woburn came third on six.
Organiser Jock Skinner thanked sponsors, Mark Lawrence, Bryan Topliss and the Oxford Mail for their generosity.
Next year’s event will be on the famous West Course at Wenthworth. Frilford’s team, all of whom play off single-figure handicaps, are (pictured from left) : Steven Stanhope, Chris Little, Oliver Tubb, Harry Richardson, Jamie Smith and Josh Davies
