A 24-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged with playing a part in a violent fight in Littlemore, Oxford.

Dexter Williams, of Coriander Way in Greater Leys, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon after the attack in Cowley Road on July 29.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court on August 12.

In a separate hearing, Wakas Khan, 20, Andre Hurst, 25, and Adam Doyle, 26, appeared at the crown court yesterday also charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. They were told to return on October 18.

Khan, of Furlong Close in Blackbird Leys, and Hurst, of George Street in Banbury, were remanded in custody, and Doyle, of Ladder Hill in Wheatley, was released on bail.

Police yesterday said they were continuing to run extra reassurance patrols in Blackbird Leys following the attack, a shooting, and a baseball bat assault last month.
