THE former head of counter fraud at Oxfam UK denied stealing more than £60,000 from the charity yesterday.
Edward McKenzie-Green, 34, is accused of taking £62,857.58 while working in the aid organisation’s Cowley office in 2011. He is also accused of stealing a laptop from Oxfam.
McKenzie-Green appeared at the Old Bailey alongside his father Edward Green, 61, who is accused of laundering £35,571.75 of the proceeds of the fraud.
Both defendants entered not guilty pleas and will stand trial later this year.
It is alleged Green senior switched more than half the profits of the fraud between his own bank accounts between April 2011 and March last year before putting them into a Santander account held by his son.
Both men were freed on unconditional bail ahead of a further hearing on September 20, which Green is exempted from attending as he lives in Scotland.
McKenzie-Green, of The Leys, Chipping Norton, denied fraud by abuse of position and theft by employee.
Green, of Scott Crescent, Cumbernauld, Glasgow, denied concealing criminal property between February 1 and December 1, 2011.
A trial date is yet to be fixed.
