IF you’re interested in crashing radio controlled cars, then a Bicester club is for you.

The Bicester Banger Club meets regularly to race and crash their radio-controlled cars and are now looking for new members.

Each competitor races their banger – which often have elaborately decorated shells – around a track for five minutes.

The objective is to complete as many laps as possible, while trying to stop competitors from completing more – often by crashing.

Club organiser Barry Weatherhead, 29, said: “It is just a laugh. Some people are trying to win and others are turning up who just want to have a crash.

“But whether you want to win or not, seeing all the different types of cars, the paint jobs and the big crashes is great.”

The club has about 30 members but Mr Weatherhead said more were needed.

He said: “We are just looking to build up the club. In the summer it is easier to organise races, more people want to do it.”

He said the club had hire cars for people to have a go and, although buying a car would cost about £150 to £200, the running costs were “pocket money”.
