AN acclaimed National Theatre production will premiere in Oxford on Monday.
The Pitmen Painters tells of a group of miners who hired a professor to teach them art in 1934.
The show at the Oxford Playhouse features artwork from Dennis Day, a miner turned painter from Oxford.
Mr Day worked in the South Wales coalfields before moving to Oxford in 2004 where he was helped at the Gatehouse, the homeless shelter in Woodstock Road.
Andrew Smith, Project Director at the Gatehouse, has been supporting him and wants members of the art group at the shelter to see the play.
Tickets for the play start at £12.50 and are available from the ticket office on 01865 305305 or book online at oxfordplayhouse.com
