THIS is one giant peach found in Oxford’s Covered Market by the cast of a new production that brings a famous Roald Dahl tale to life.

James and the Giant Peach is at the Oxford Playhouse today and tomorrow.

Actor Tom Gillies, who plays James, said: “Being a first time visitor to the city of Oxford there’s an element of being a fish out of water, but even in the bit of time I’ve been here I find myself absolutely enamoured. “The city has a wonderful cultural history.

“I can only hope those who are coming to see us this week have an enjoyable time at the theatre.”

The story is about James who meets a mystical old man who gives him a bag that contains magic beans, which he accidentially spills over an old peach tree.

The Birmingham Stage Company production has been adapted for stage by David Wood.
