THE story of Alice in Wonderland was brought to life in Christ Church Meadows with two performances by the Oxford University Dramatic Society.

The society performed from Saturday to yesterday to crowds. Phoebe Hames, who played Alice, said: “We have been rehearsing inside but taking it outside is better.”

The 20-year-old, who has just finished her second year studying classics at Lady Margaret Hall, added: “It is really fun performing it outside, especially as there is so much scope for the play. It is very much a family piece.”

The society is now taking the production to London on Friday and Saturday and then Edinburgh from Wednesday to Monday, August 26.
