MORE than 50 footballers turned out to pay tribute to a Wallingford soccer stalwart over the weekend.

The annual Charlie Allum memorial tournament was held at the Hithercroft sports park on Saturday.

Mr Allum, who played for and managed AFC Wallingford, died from cancer at the age of just 55 in June 2011.

His son Chris Allum, who organised the event, said: “This year we had a bouncy castle, football coaching and a barbecue.

“It is hard to say how many people were there but I would imagine it was anywhere up to 200.”

The day raised £1,500 for charity AMMF which raises awareness avout bile duct cancer.
