IT WAS bread – but not as they know it.
Idum Christensen, 8, and her sister Gry, tasted the food served by Hermione Dowling for an archaeology day on Sunday. Using the same methods, but not the same ingredients, as 15th century bread, they literally tasted the past.
The joint event between Oxford Preservation Trust and Oxford Castle Unlocked included coin stamping, pot reconstruction, finger weaving and flint-knapping.
