THE man accused of holding police at bay during a 12-hour siege in Kidlington was yesterday remanded in custody.
Daniel Rodriguez, 38, appeared before Banbury magistrates accused of five crimes in relation to the stand-off in Morton Avenue on Tuesday.
During the hearing he interrupted the prosecuting solicitor and would not stand up when told to by chairwoman of the bench, Carolyn Preston.
Rodriguez has been charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm, one of using an imitation firearm with intent to resist arrest, one of possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid and one of false imprisonment.
The weapons are listed in the possession charges as a handgun and a gas-powered air rifle.
He gave his address as the flat in Morton Avenue that was at the centre of the siege.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday.
Rodriguez is also facing three counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
