Sir – Peter Berry (Letters, June 27) correctly points out that buses can be annoying. That is why I suggested a limited trial: six buses an hour in each direction, only on Sundays. And let’s stipulate only the latest, non-polluting, buses.
I’d then happily take my grandchildren to the Pitt Rivers, hop on a bus at Keble Road, and ride to Headington.
I would not get off at Magdalen Street East, wait for a little train, and then wait for another bus at Castle Street.
I don’t willingly walk along Cornmarket, ever. It has little beauty, and too many burger, phone, and coffee chains.
