Sir – Stuart Cooper is right (Letters, June 20). The ‘Cyclist dismount’ advisory signs are almost universally ignored in Oxford.

Sustrans, on its long distance paths, displays signs with the succinct message ‘Share with care’, together with symbols of a pedestrian and a cycle, the former being larger than the latter.

Perhaps Oxford City Council could experiment with similar signs.

Where we are allowed to share the same path, all that some of us on our own two feet ask for is consideration from those on two wheels, and doubtless vice versa.
