POLICE have been given an extra 12 hours to question a man arrested after yesterday's siege in Kidlington.
Detectives have only this afternoon been able to start questioning the man about the incident in Morton Avenue where two-year-old twin girls were held in a property by their father.
The man released the two girls at separate points in the morning but was not arrested until he was tasered just after 3.30pm.
Police had an initial 24 hours from about 4.30pm to hold the man but questioning of him was not able to start until this afternoon. A Superintendent decided this afternoon to grant investigating officers an extra 12 hours to continue to question him.
Neither girl was injured during the incident.
Police were called to the property at about 3.40am on Tuesday. Up to 40 officers, including at least 16 with firearms, were involved.
