DANCERS showed off their moves at the area final of a competition designed to highlight the work of an international charity.

Abingdon Stagecoach used the plight of child soldiers to show the contrast between their lives and those of youngsters who live in safe communities.

It was part of a competition run by the Red Cross called Dance Make Your Move.

The dancers had to produce a piece based on the work of the charity.

The Abingdon group, who were up against six others at Radley College on Saturday competing for a place in the UK final at London’s O2 Arena, were pipped to the post by a dance group from High Wycombe.

One of the Abingdon dancers, Sylvie Pope said: “It is a really interesting competition because it has such a strong theme to it.”

Another dancer, Hannah Young, said: “Because we are at Stagecoach we also do drama as well as dance, which meant we could use all our skills.”
