ARMED police officers carried out a search of a home in Banbury after reports of a man with a “bladed article”.
At around 8.30pm last night Thames Valley Police was called to West Street, where the man was believed to have entered a property.
The property was searched but no one was found inside the house - though the “bladed article” was recovered.
Armed officers were deployed to deal with the incident and were stood down by 10pm.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.
Deputy LPA Commander for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire, Chief Inspector Kath Lowe, said: “The incident was safely and quickly resolved. There is no suggestion that anybody was held against their will and there is no ongoing risk to the community."
He was released on bail until August 13.
