AS A UKIP member and activist in UKIP’s campaign to Save The Pub, mindful of the fact about 25 public houses are still being closed every week, I support the idea of a new pub on Barton.
Communities which have no pub encourage isolated residents to drive in their cars and run the risk of a drink-drive offence.
The city council can very easily redress the situation and agree to a Barton pub (Oxford Mail, July 2), or maybe a Toby Carvery – the nearest to Oxford is Banbury.
Part of UKIP’s campaign is to enforce supermarkets to compete fairly and cut tax on drinks sold in public houses.
If the people want a pub and/or a Toby Carvery, then let them have one.
